The Sri Lanka government has ordered all state media including Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and ITN television to downplay the continuous protests by the people in Egypt against Hosni Mubarak regime.

LankaNewsWeb understands that President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa are seriously worried over the people’s power that overthrew the regime in Tunisia and the events unfolding in Egypt.
The Rajapaksa brothers after consulting with the government’s former journalists cum advisors on curtailing the media, Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and

Dullas Alahapperuma, have decided to order all state media, television, radio and newspapers, not to give publicity to the events unfolding in Egypt and Tunisia.

While UNP leadership hopeful MP Sajith Premadasa is busy taking daily orders from Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe and JVP’s Anura Kumara Dissanayake have predicted that Sri Lankan public will soon follow the lead from unprecedented revolutions that demonstrated real power of the people in the Arab world.
