එ.ජා විද්වත් කමිටු වාර්තාවෙහි සාරාංශය – ‛‛ සිය මිලිටරි මෙහෙයුම ව්‍යාප්ත කළේ සිවිල් වැසියන් විශාල සංඛ්‍යාවකට මරු කැඳවමින් ය’’

2009 මාර්තු 23 දා මහ ලේකම්වරයා කළ ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංචාරය අවසානයේ දී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ජනාධිපතිවරයා සහ මහ ලේකම්වරයා නිකුත් කළ ප්‍රකාශයෙහි අන්තර්ගත වූ ඒකාබද්ධ කැප වීම ක්‍රියාවට නැංවීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් තමන්ට උපදෙස් දීම සඳහා විශේෂඥ මණ්ඩලයක් පත් කළ බව 2010 ජූනි 22 දා මහ ලේකම්වරයා නිවේදනය කළේ ය. එම ඒකාබද්ධ ප්‍රකාශය තුළ දී, මහ ලේකම්වරයා “වග වීමේ ක්‍රියාවලියේ වැදගත්කම අවධාරණය කළ” අතර, “එම දුක් ගැනවිලිවලට විසඳුම් සෙවීමට පියවර ගන්නා බවට” ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ආණ්ඩුව එකඟ විය. මණ්ඩලය සතු විධිනියෝගය නම්, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සන්නද්ධ ගැටුමේ අවසන් අදියරවල් අතරතුර දී ජාත්‍යන්තර මානුෂීය සහ මානව හිමිකම් නීතිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් සිදු වුණු බවට චුදිත උල්ලංඝනයන්හි ස්වභාවය සහ පරිමාණය සැලකිල්ලට ගෙන, වගවීමේ ක්‍රියාවලියකට අදාළව යොදා ගත හැකි ආකෘතීන්, ජාත්‍යන්තර මිනුම් දඬු සහ සංසන්දනාත්මක අත්දැකීම් පිළිබඳව මහ ලේකම්වරයාට උපදෙස් දීම යි.

Sri Lankan authorities ban Lanka eNews

New York, April 28, 2011–The Committee to Protect Journalists condemned today Belarus’s information ministry attempts to close down the opposition newspaper Narodnaya Volya and the independent newspaper Nasha Niva, and called on the ministry to stop its harassment of both publications. A Pugoda magistrate’s court ordered the country’s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission to suspend Lanka eNews within Sri Lanka while it tries the site’s detained journalist Shantha Wijeysooria for contempt of court, according to local and international news reports.

the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on public release of Panel of Experts’ report on Sri Lanka

The United Nations has today made public the advisory report of the Secretary-General’s Panel of Experts on accountability with respect to the final stages of the decades-long armed conflict in Sri Lanka, which was submitted to him on 12 April 2011. The decision to release the report was made as a matter of transparency and in the broader public interest. The report was shared in its entirety with the Government of Sri Lanka on 12 April. The Secretary-General has indicated his willingness to publicize the Government’s response alongside the report. This invitation was extended to the Sri Lanka Government throughout the week, including again on Saturday by the Secretary-General to the External Affairs Minister of Sri Lanka. The Government has not responded to this offer which nonetheless still stands. The Secretary-General expresses his appreciation to the advisory Panel of Experts who have provided their advice on how the undertaking on accountability in the joint communiqué that he had made with the President at the conclusion of Sri Lanka’s war can be fulfilled.

World elders group support war crimes probe on Sri Lanka

The Elders group launched by South African liberation fighter, Nelson Mandela, consisting of former democratic world leaders has decided to issue a statement emphasizing the need for an independent probe into the crimes against humanity that have allegedly taken place in Sri Lanka. The group is to make the statement in line with the report prepared by the panel of experts appointed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Sri Lanka.Former US President Jimmy Carter, democratic leader of Myanmar Aung San Su Kyi, former South African President Nelson Mandela, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, former Irish President and head of the Human Rights Council Mary Robinson and Bishop Desmond Tutu are among the world leaders in The Elders group.
